Shea Lovan is the Interim Chief Information Officer for the University of California, Santa Barbara. In his role as the Interim CIO, Shea provides oversight for all IT activities that contribute to planning, creating, and implementing UCSB's IT vision and for the integration of those activities in to the campus's strategic plan.
Shea has been a member of the UC Santa Barbara community since he was an undergraduate. His over 27 years' experience in IT at UCSB includes support for research, instructional, and administrative units in several campus departments and organized research units. Most recently, as the Director of Cloud and Identity Services and working in concert with other campus leaders, he developed UCSB's multi-vendor Cloud Computing strategy and led its technical implementation to create an environment supporting academic and administrative workloads.
In addition to his efforts at UCSB, Shea is an active member of the Santa Barbara community. He has been president of Santa Barbara Science Fair, Inc., since 2007, organizing and operating the county’s science and engineering fair. Shea is also a board member and past Commodore of the Santa Barbara Sea Shells Association, a family-oriented youth sailing organization.
