A successful IT strategy requires ongoing, robust engagement and input from campus partners and stakeholders.

Starting in September 2023, CIO Josh Bright, in collaboration with Next Generation Leadership Partners, will engage approximately 140 campus members in conversations about UCSB's strategic goals and technology landscape. Through focused questions, these interviews aim to:

  • Understand the campus’ strategic priorities and the role technology should play in achieving them
  • Pinpoint key technology needs for research, academics, operational effectiveness, and campus engagement
  • Identify UCSB's core technology opportunities and risks

The insights gathered will inform how an updated campus IT strategy can support and enhance UCSB's technology capabilities. In mid-November, campus leadership and key stakeholders will participate in a retreat to assist in the development of a high-level strategic IT plan.

After the new strategy is developed, the Office of the CIO will obtain community feedback, identify priorities, and develop implementation roadmaps for high-priority initiatives. This strategy and roadmap will be utilized to guide future campus investments in technology and to determine priorities for the development of UCSB’s IT workforce.
